First glance is everything. But your website doesn’t only need great visuals and layout – the copy is crucial. How many businesses spend thousands on web design, only to be wasted because of dull, rambling words? And so lacking in properly placed keyword phrases, headers and search engine optimisation that the site is lost down the Google rankings anyway?
Keep it regular and genuinely useful
It might sound obvious, but a successful content marketing campaign is one in which customers actually look forward to opening and read your stuff! That’s because catchy headers lead into your regular giveaways of helpful info or advice – not any hard selling of your product. It’s all about generosity and sharing these days. Blogs, newsletters or emails – the same principle applies. The more you give in the way of genuinely useful insights, know-how and free downloads, the bigger your band of loyal followers will grow. Who’ll not only share what you have to say. They’ll more than likely become customers too!
A Powerful Selling Tool
Golden rule of good copywriting – always see from the target audience’s point of view. Which boils down to 5 words: ‘What’s in it for me?’ Benefit-driven copy is everything. A first glance must either show a compelling motivation to open the brochure, or the benefits of your product. If it doesn’t, then no matter how bright and glossy, it’s headed straight for the trash – virtual or otherwise!
Print, Press, Radio, TV, Email
Whether it’s print or digital marketing – the basics stay the same. Benefits rule. The hook can be sledgehammer or subtle, but it’s got to be there. And as for email online advertising, if there’s no enticing benefit in the email title, then it generally goes in the trash – unopened.

Your website, editorial, white paper, blog – whatever – should be written in clear, conversational language. And with a logical, easy-to-follow structure. Plus your website or other online content is a waste of money if it’s not structured and key word phrased to get a big tick from Google! So if your communication seems a bit wishy-washy/muddy/all over the place, I can whip it into shape, quickly and efficiently.
